BF-3-5 Shima-Ebi
Order: Decapoda, Suborder: Pleocryemata, Family: Pandalidae, Genus: Pandalus
The Shima-Ebi is also called Hokkai-Ebi or Hokkai Shima-Ebi and lives in the seaweed bed of the northwestern Pacific coastlines.
Its body is 8-13cm long. Because its entire body is covered with yellow-green and green-brown stripes, this shrimp is called "Shima-Ebi".
As with other shrimp of the Pandalus genus, the Shima-Ebi undergoes a protandrous sex change – beginning life as a male while it is young and changing to a female when its body length reaches approximately 10cm.
